The SR3 security rating was an essential project requirement as it is the main security level used by Network Rail across its portfolio – based on their risk profile. Security Rating 3 (SR3) is one of several standards within the LPS 1175 certification which tests the resistance of security products against unauthorized access – regulated by the Loss Prevention Certification Board. SR3 is based on low commercial risk and provides resistance against bodily force and a range of hand tools with a more significant mechanical advantage.
Perforation was also a requirement so the station could maintain a pleasing aesthetic even when secure. Our Xonar Shutters would serve to protect ticket machines and staff areas overnight and out of hours when access would still be required to the platforms. The shutters included our unique self-locking technology as well as light curtains to provide safety on close whilst also being vandal resistant

As part of the Perry Barr Regeneration in North Birmingham, our Xonar Shutters were specified to upgrade the Perry Barr Station security. The entire regeneration was developed ahead of the Commonwealth Games beginning on July 28th. A total of £700 million was allocated to the project, funded by both central and local governments. The regeneration would provide the community with upgrades to bus and train stations, 5,000 new homes, the largest dedicated athletics stadium in the country, and a new aquatics centre.
